1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website owners about how visitors use their site.

Cookies are not harmful. They cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. They are unique to your browser and can only be read by the website that placed them or by designated third-party services.

Similar technologies such as web beacons, pixel tags, and local storage may also be used for similar purposes. References to "cookies" in this policy include these similar technologies where applicable.

2. How we use cookies

The Responsible AI Center uses cookies on our website (www.theraicenter.org) to:

  • Ensure the website functions correctly and securely (essential cookies).
  • Remember your cookie consent preferences so we do not ask you repeatedly.
  • Understand how visitors navigate and use our website, so we can improve the user experience (analytics cookies, with your consent).

We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or tracking you across other websites.

5. Third-party cookies

Where we use third-party services such as analytics providers, those providers may set their own cookies. We only allow third-party cookies where you have given your consent to the relevant category.

Third-party services we may use include:

  • Google Analytics: Provides anonymised website usage data. Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation enabled. Google may process data in accordance with its own privacy policy. See Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts: Fonts are loaded from Google servers. This may result in Google receiving your IP address. We use the display=swap parameter and preconnect hints to minimise any performance impact.

We do not use social media tracking pixels (such as Facebook Pixel or LinkedIn Insight Tag) on this website.

6. Managing your cookie preferences

You have full control over which cookies are active on our website. You can change your preferences at any time:

  • Cookie consent banner: When you first visit our website, a consent banner will appear. You can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or customise your preferences.
  • Cookie preferences button: Click the "Cookie preferences" button in the footer of any page to open the preference panel and update your choices at any time.
  • Withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing that occurred while consent was active.

7. Managing cookies through your browser

In addition to our consent management tool, you can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device.
